Aeromat

Use of innovative technologies, materials, and designs in the aviation sector

What is Aeromat?

The project is focused on the aviation-security pair.
The main objective is the development of innovative technological solutions in the areas of environmental modeling applied to aviation, construction materials and devices used in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) with specific reference to the airports of Catania, Comiso, Reggio Calabria and Naples. In particular, the objective is to improve the quality of forecasts related to airspace and ground deposition of volcanic dust.

What is proposed

It is intended to develop an integrated modeling system aimed at providing data to optimize airport operations when such phenomena occur. Such a system, will integrate volcanological data with meteorological data predicted by high-resolution models in order to obtain both predictions of hazardous weather phenomena, such as hail, turbulence and wind-shear, and quantitative estimates of the transport of fine dust, desert sands and volcanic ash in the atmosphere and as ground deposition.
